The African Water and Sanitation Association is pleased to announce that the list of recipients of the 2025 research grant is now available.

Scholarship terms and conditions
In accordance with the Scholarship Agreement between AfWASA and each recipient:
- 60% of the scholarship amount is paid at the start of the work, upon request by the supervisor;
- the remaining 40% is released after submission of the final deliverables, including reports, fact sheets, and research papers.
Recipients undertake to conduct their research rigorously and to meet the established deadlines, thereby actively contributing to the improvement of practices and knowledge in the WASH sector.
About the scholarship program
As part of its capacity-building program, and with the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, AfWASA awards scholarships of up to $1,000 each year. These scholarships are intended to support applied research conducted by master's students or engineers nearing the end of their studies on key issues in the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene sector. Each research project results in the production of a scientific report intended to enrich the sector's knowledge base.
Through this initiative, AfWASA aims to encourage the production of local knowledge, stimulate innovation, and strengthen the skills of young African talent in order to provide sustainable solutions to the challenges facing the sector on the continent.
