Diversity and inclusion in the water sector: AfWASA and IWA launch dialogue with “Women in Water” webinar
The water sector in Africa cannot develop sustainably without the genuine inclusion of all its stakeholders. However, women remain underrepresented in technical and leadership roles, often facing obstacles that hinder their progress. Aware of this reality, the African Water and Sanitation Association, in collaboration with the International Water Association (IWA) specialist group on sustainability in the water sector, is organizing a webinar on diversity and inclusion in the water sector on November 26, 2025, at 1 p.m. GMT.
This meeting is part of the “Women in Water” project, an initiative that aims to give a voice to all genders and strengthen collective commitment to a more equitable and inclusive professional environment. It will provide a space for discussion and reflection to identify the main challenges faced by women in the sector, share inspiring experiences, and propose concrete actions to build a workplace where everyone can contribute fully.
By addressing diversity and equality issues through cooperation and dialogue, this initiative marks a new step in the commitment of the AfWASA and its partners to make gender equality and inclusion key drivers of sustainable development in the water sector.
Men and women working in the sector are invited to actively participate in this webinar in order to enrich the collective discussion and contribute to building, together, a more just and representative future for the entire water community in Africa.
As part of the workshop and to ensure a more meaningful experience, we encourage all the participants to fill a Pre-workshop survey here
