96th STC: AfWASA and CASOL sign partnership agreement
The opening ceremony of the 96th Strategic and Technological Council of the African Water and Sanitation Association, held in Yaoundé on 17 November 2025, was marked by the signing of a partnership agreement between the AAEA and the African Confederation of Olympic Sports (CASOL).
The agreement was signed by Dr. Blaise Moussa, President of the AAEA and Managing Director of CAMWATER, and Mr. Hamed Kalkaba Malboum, President of CASOL. The convention establishes a framework for collaboration between the two institutions in several areas of mutual interest, including awareness-raising, training, community mobilisation, and the organisation of joint activities.
CASOL, created in 2024, brings together African sports confederations of Olympic disciplines. Through this agreement, the organisation has committed to contributing to awareness initiatives related to water, hygiene, sanitation, health, and the environment, particularly among young people and sports communities.
AfWASA, for its part, will provide its technical expertise in the fields of water and sanitation, along with its capacity-building and sector communication tools. The partnership also includes the possibility of integrating actions related to gender equality and violence prevention, in line with the internal policies of both parties.
The convention also provides for the organisation of joint events, the exchange of information, the sharing of best practices, and the development of initiatives aimed at supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 on access to safe drinking water and sanitation.
The agreement, signed during the opening ceremony, formalises cooperation between the two organisations for the coming years, with a shared commitment to mobilising stakeholders and communities across the African continent.aine.
